Segment Synopsis: Parents’ friends and neighbors, and relationships with them that were pretty good helping each other.
Occasions to get together with neighbors: Sunday and holidays visits, attending family special events like christenings and weddings.
Work-bees to do some work together.
Home schedule: early to bed (before 8 pm, if 9 pm - that was very late), early to rise (6-7 am) to have breakfast and go to school. There was no radio to listen and too dark to read.
Spare time for children: "to horse around," also horse-riding. Almost no spare time for adults: sitting down and talking, neighbours visits as well.

Segment Synopsis: Metis as neighbors, communication with them, inviting them for family events. Ukrainian new-comers in the community, and relationships with earlier settlers.
Ethnic self-identification as Ukrainians and/or Austrians (second for the first generation filling out formal forms and documents), also as Galicians and/or Bukovynians, where the latter two were most often rather than Ukrainian. Anne's mother was from Bukovyna, and father from Halychyna. Sometimes the term "Galitsiany" was used.
